I must say that I prefer Dia de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) to Halloween, even though they are both kind of celebrating the same thing. Apparently there is a time between autumn and winter, where the spirits of the people who have passed away can permeate into the worlds of the living. It [...]
I saw Joelistics and James Mangonhig from TZU perform tonight. What a treat. We got tickets to ‘In Between Two’ showing as part of the Melbourne Festival. It was a rich tapestry of storytelling, music, comedy and visual delights. Such an amazing and uplifting history.
I am so happy. It was nice to get out and hear Tim Flannery talk about some of his optimism where climate change is concerned. He is an Australian scientist and he was talking about the fact that the battle has largely been won where use of fossil fuels is concerned in energy and transport. [...]
Although, it was haunting, how the dystopian future played out in Australia, in this play 'The Way Out'. It took them two years to develop this play in association with the Red Stitch Theatre in St Kilda. It certainly came across as a very polished piece of work. The acting was superb. It is so cold! I am waiting for my little house to warm up and get cosy after a night out in the Melbourne winter. We went to the Mountain Goat Brewery in Richmond. It was really nice! :-) I feel so grateful to have such lovely friends. How are you?
I am dreaming of the Paris Cat. I feel like getting warm and cosy there, and drinking red wine with friends. :-) As it is, I am going out to listen to an interesting talk about ageing. It is being hosted by the author of the book; A long time coming - Melanie Jootsen. Hopefully [...]
Beautiful, soulful rain. Sometimes it can be nice to choose an image first. Sometimes it triggers a thought. Tonight, it made me think of a man who I saw this afternoon when I was doing my grocery shopping. He was elderly and pushing along his walking frame, browsing items in the kitchen section of the [...]
